The Fever Alert™ feature makes it easier to get a quick visual reading, especially when taking a child's temperature at night. Thermometer also knows exactly which probe is in use and calibrates the readout accordingly; since typically rectal readings are a degree higher than oral, and underarm readings are a degree lower.
