The Svan® story began in 1996 with the design of the flagship product, the Svan High Chair. Anders Fällman and Kjell (pronounced Shell) Hägström had years of design experience under their belts before they turned their talents to creating the Svan line. When Anders became a father, he wasn't satisfied with the high chair options on the European market. So he and Kjell set out to "build a better mousetrap."

They knew that safety and durability would be key design elements of their product. To ensure that, they chose to use bentwood, a technique of steaming and bending wood before letting it harden into shape. This unique method gave the finished product the strength and security parents desired, while staying true to Swedish style. After months of research and careful crafting, the Svan chair was launched.

While it might take skill to design a product, it takes something more to create a product that can be mass produced at an affordable cost to consumers. Anders' business savvy combined with Kjell's dedication to design aesthetic met the challenge with stunning success.

The Svan design introduced a unique combination found in no other high chair.
